Our Story

In the summer of 1905, James Hiram Rose, Sr., and William T. Woodall formed a

partnership of Rose & Woodall Furniture and Funeral Service. During this time, the

company provided manufactured caskets, casket supplies and funeral services. The two

partners ran the business and James"Hiram" Rose, Jr., joined the company in 1929. Mr.

Woodall's interest in the business was purchased by Hiram Rose in 1939 and the name

was changed to Rose and Company. James Hiram Rose, Sr., died in 1941 and Hiram

operated the furniture store and funeral business for his family. In 1948, the funeral

business moved to its present location at 301 West Main Street.

James W. "Jimmie" Rose, Hiram's son, joined the firm in 1954 after receiving his

funeral service degree from Gupton Jones School of Mortuary Science in Nashville, TN.

In order to concentrate solely in the funeral home business, the company sold its furniture

store to Heileg Myers in 1969 and the name of the company was then known as Rose

Funeral Home. A second funeral home was constructed and opened in Coats in 1971..

John A. "Winn" Graham joined the firm in 1978 and later that year, Hiram Rose

died. Winn received his funeral service degree from Fayetteville Technical Institute in

1979. He became a partner in 1982 and the name of the firm was changed to Rose &

Graham Funeral Home, Inc.

In 1992, Jimmie Rose retired and Winn Graham became President of the firm.

Justin Powell and Allen Roberts began work at the firm in 2001 and received their

funeral service licenses in 2005 and became business partners in 2008. The funeral home

continued to grow and in 2012, it acquired Minshew Funeral Home in Four Oaks for its

third location. Later that year, Jimmie Rose died at the age of 82.

In February of 2019, Winn Graham retired after 42 years of funeral service and

Justin Powell and Allen Roberts acquired the control of the business to continue the

legacy of Rose & Graham Funeral Home and to continue its pledge to offer the highest

quality funeral services to the families which we have proudly served for over 117 years.
