Myrtle Young

September 8, 1931 — September 27, 2020

Miss Myrtle Janice Young, age 89, of South Turner Circle, passed away on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at her home.  Janice was born on September 8, 1931 to the late Oscar and Willie Young.  She was preceded in death by all of her siblings, Soulou Young, Charles Young, Mary F. Marshall, Dorothy Y. Matthews and niece, Carla Yeager.  A niece, Sue Marshall, of Colchester IL survives and remembers “Mert” fondly here.  Janice lived on or near the family farm outside Angier most of her life before moving to Coats.  She worked at Ma’s restaurant for many years.  Janice knew most everyone in Coats and they her. She started her day at Hardees with biscuits, friends, and the news.  Then it was to the Coats Senior Center for activities and lunch.  She was a social butterfly and had a good memory about her friends and their family stories. I would like to thank the community at large for your friendship with her. Thank you to so many who helped Janice including: Senior Center Director Melody McGee, staff, volunteers there and at “His Daily Bread” Soup Kitchen; Denise Matthews, friend and landlord, for many years; Jamie Zemora at Harnett County Social Services for getting her needed services; Sarah Monk, home health worker for her extra special friendship and care prior to her death; and to close friend Marilyn Ennis, for the many things she did that allowed her to live on her own, and for her assistance to me in making many final arrangements at a distance. Memorials can be sent to the Coats Senior Center or His Daily Bread, PO Box 366, Coats NC 27521. Thanks to all the staff at Rose & Graham Funeral Home for handling arrangements.  Condolences and memories can be made at www.roseandgraham.com and I look forward to them.  A graveside service will be held at Sandy Grove Church located east of Angier on Hwy. 210 near Old Stage Road on Sunday October 18th at 3PM.  Pastor Paul Cecil will officiate. In accordance with NC-COVID-19 guidelines, the funeral home suggests practicing social distancing guidelines and the three W’s: wait, wash, and wear a face covering.  Face coverings will be required at the graveside service. Arrangements are by Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Coats, NC.
