Willie Ray Hughes

Mr. Willie Ray Hughes, age 78, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2025 at his home surrounded by his loving family. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM-8:00PM, Sunday, July 27, 2025 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Coats, NC. Funeral Services will be held 11:00AM, Monday, July 28, 2025 at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Coats. Rev. Robert Gilchrist will officiate. Burial will follow in the Byrd Family Cemetery in Angier.

Mr. Hughes was born on October 17, 1946, in Harnett County, NC to the late Ervin and Hattie Mavis Gregory Hughes. He was also preceded in death by his sons, Bennie Ray Hughes and Herbert Larry Hughes; three grandsons, Ricky Winders, Dustin Hughes, and Brandon Lee Hughes; sisters, Shirley Jean Hughes, Sandra Gail Hughes, and Sandy Wayne Hughes. Mr. Hughes was a retired brick mason and loved to work in his vegetable garden. He was an avid fisherman and pool player. Mr. Hughes enjoyed playing his guitar and loved to sing.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Nancy M. Hughes; children, Shelia H. Jones and husband, Dave, Nancy Mitchell and husband, Eddie; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; sister, Donna Hughes Wilkins; and several nieces and nephews.
