Mr. William Ronnie Snead, age 74, of Brightleaf Blvd in Smithfield passed away on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Services will be held-11:00 AM Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at Rose and Graham Funeral Chapel in Four Oaks. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM prior to the service. Entombment will follow in Antioch United Methodist Church in Four Oaks.

Ronnie was born on November 7, 1951 in Johnston County to the late Howard Wright and Thelma Baker Snead. He was preceded by his parents. Ronnie was raised on a farm in the Bentonville Community where he loved gardening and cropping and worked at Fieldcrest Mills for 15 years until they closed and went on to work with K.R. Edwards Tobacco Company in Smithfield but later retired from Johnston County Maintenance Department in 2011. He was also a caregiver to both his parents until their passing as well as his Aunt Lola Rhodes and Aunt Lillian Snead. Ronnie loved researching his family history and was known as the family historian. He was known to remember exact dates of events that happened in his childhood as well as anything about the Civil War. Ronnie was a member of Sons of Confederate Veterans where he joined through his Uncle Robert with Brig. Gen. Evander M. Law Camp No. 1323 in September 2005 and later transferred to Smithfield Light Infantry Camp No. 1466. He took so much pride in serving as the Color Sergeant during their monthly meetings and did so until his passing. He enjoyed fundraising for the camp and was the caretaker of the General Johnston Statue and flags for Bentonville Battleground. He loved the Lord and his family, they both meant everything to him. He was a man of his word that you could always count on. Ronnie was charter member of New Beginnings ARP Church in Pine Level, NC.

Survivors include his sister, Betty Jean Whitley and husband Ricky; brothers, Donnie Snead and wife, Nancy and Billy Snead and wife, Linda; nieces, Brandy Patterson, Kelly Whitley, Jackie Nichols, Wendy Dale, and Jessica Westbrook; nephew, Brandon Whitley; several great nieces and nephews; 1 great great nephew; many special cousins and friends; aunt, Lillian Snead; and uncle, Robert Snead of Florida.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Beginnings ARP Church at PO Box 117, Pine Level, NC 27568 or to Sons of Confederate Veterans-Smithfield Light Infantry in c/o James Norris at PO Box 845 Four Oaks NC, 27524.
