Four Oaks, NC: Mr. Thomas Eugene Russell, age 91, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2026. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, October 22, 2026, in the Barbour’s Chapel Advent Christian Church Cemetery in Four Oaks. Officiating will be Pastor Rodney Brittain.

Mr. Russell was born on October 29, 1934 in Wyth County, Virginia to the late Clyde and Sarah Russell. He had a long career in the trucking industry that spanned over 53 years. He started driving trucks at an early age. It began with driving the dairy trucks on his family’s dairy farm. He drove a truck for Campbell and the Raleigh News and Observer. His career allowed him to visit many places. When he wasn’t working, he was traveling with his wife, Ann, in their RV. They traveled the country, including many parts of the West Coast, the East Coast, Canada, and Mexico.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, James William Russell; step-sons, Jeff Parker and Keith Parker.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Baker Russell; his children, daughter, Shirley Mae (Robert); daughter, Marie Ann Wheeler (Ken); step-daughter, Mary Ellen Raftery; his grandchildren, Chrissy Haney (Trey), Jaselyn Williams, Whitney Reynolds (Chris), Erica Raftery (Stephanie), Anna Lockamy (Nick), Andrew Wheeler (Autumn); 13 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson, and nieces and nephew.

The family will receive friends following the graveside service.
