Shirley Wheeler Wood

Benson: Mrs. Shirley Wheeler Wood, age 83, of 6510 NC HWY 96 S. died Saturday, May 23, 2020 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. A Graveside Service will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at Stones Creek Advent Christian Church Cemetery. Revs. Scott Johnson and Doug Abel will officiate.             Mrs. Wood was born October 11, 1936 in Johnston County to the late James Woodrow and Eva Dunn Wheeler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Waylon B. Wood; daughter, Linda Wood Medlin; and sister, Melba Lee. Mrs. Wood was a retired nurse and a member of Stones Creek Advent Christian Church, where she was a member of the choir and WHFM Society for many years.             Surviving include, daughter and son-in-law, Debbie W. and David Lee; son and daughter-in-law, Danny Wayne and Teresa Wood all of Benson; grandchildren, Dennis Medlin, Jeremy Medlin, Alex Wood and Sarah Wood; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Willard Wheeler and wife, Peggy of Benson; many nieces and nephews.            Mrs. Wood will be available for viewing, and you will be able to sign the register book on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 from 9:00 AM-12:00 Noon at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson. The family will not be present during this time. The family will be present other times at Mrs. Wood’s home.                           Due to the current health concerns the family understands if you are not able to join them for the services.
