Graham, NC: Mr. Sherwood Lee Whitman, age 102, passed away at his residence on Monday, April 27, 2026. Funeral Services will be 11:00AM-Thursday, April 30, 2026 at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson, NC. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery, Benson, NC. Rev. Randy Beasley will officiate. 

Mr. Whitman was born on December 27, 1923, in Johnston County, NC, to the late Joe Whitman and Dempsy Norris Whitman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Grace Jackson Whitman and Lenorris Smith Whitman, infant son, Tony Whitman, brothers, Howard, Herman, John Melvin, and Woodrow, and sisters, Mabel Johnson, Pearl Wood, Naomi Johnson, Lunette Byrd, and Claudia Cannon. Mr. Whitman was a retired electrician, and worked with Dixon Electric and Watson Electric. He was a member of Seaside Chapel Church.

Survivors include his children, Roger Whitman and wife, Sue, Ricky Whitman and wife, Paula, and Connie Whitman; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

There will be an open door visitation from 10:00AM-10:45AM, Thursday, prior to the service, and the family will receive friends following the committal service at the cemetery.
