R.Z. McGee

Angier, NC: Mr. R. Z. McGee, age 87, 1210 Greenleaf Rd died Saturday morning at his residence. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Monday at Friendship Baptist Church in Angier. Officiating will be Rev. Doug Anders, Brother Griffin, Rev. Billy Cashwell, and Rev. Randy Beasley. Burial will follow in church cemetery. Mr. McGee was born August 26, 1923 in Johnston County to the late Zachariah and Lucy Ellen Allen McGee. He was preceded in death by brother, Wilson McGee and a sister, Reba Honeycutt. Mr. McGee was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and a Sunday school teacher and a deacon at Banner’s Chapel Advent Christian Church for 25 years. He served in the Armed Forces and was a Veteran of WWII.   Mr. McGee was a member of the American Legion Banner Post 109, and a retired fireman of the 50/210 Fire Department where he served on the Board of Directors for fire department and rescue squad. He was a retired dry wall contractor. Surviving are wife of 64 years, Myrtle McLamb McGee; Daughters and Spouses, Diane and Clinton Prairie of Boston, Massachusetts, Kathy Johnson of Benson, Judy and Russ Walton of Angier, Trudy and Lavon Ennis of Benson, Jennifer McGee of Angier; Sister, Vera Beasley of Benson; 10 Grandchildren; 13 Great-Grandchildren; Several Nieces and Nephews. Family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Sunday evening and other times at the home.
