Dunn, NC: Mr. Robert Earl Norris, age 88, of Friendly Road passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2026 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM Sunday, August 2, 2026 at Rose and Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM. Officiating will be Revs. Horace Johnson and Kelvin Blackman.
Mr. Norris was born on June 16, 1938 in Harnett County to the late Amos Hinton and Gertrude Martin Norris. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Otis Hinton Norris. He found great joy in life's simple pleasures and treasured the time he spent with those he loved most. Alongside his beloved wife, he traveled extensively, visiting all but five of the United States, as well as Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Alaska, creating a lifetime of cherished memories together. He had a deep love for the outdoors and enjoyed camping, fishing, boating, and water skiing. Above all, he cherished every moment spent with his family. He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his love of nature, and the lasting memories he created with those who knew him.
Surviving includes his wife of 71 years, Lois Norris; children, Danny Earl Norris and wife, Joan, Becky Denise Ploeger and husband, Dave, and Dennis Ray Norris and wife, Jan; grandchildren, Jason Norris and wife, Sarah, Matt Norris and wife, Morgan, Daniel Norris and wife, Stephanie, Megan Glover, and Emily Norris; great grandchildren, Jarrod Norris, Julie Denning, William Norris, Sydney Norris, Luke Norris, Cooper Norris, Eden Glover, Issac Glover, and Joseph and Juda Glover; great great grandchildren, Remi Barefoot and Josi Barefoot; brother, Larry Norris and wife, Renee; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association at P.O. Box 96011, Washington, DC 20090.
The family would like to gratefully acknowledge the loving support and care provided by their Dad’s health caregivers, Kathy Chance, April Stanley, Vanessa Lowe, Rebecca Adams Paula Hall, Nicole Guyan, and Michal “Jenny” Rodgers. These women went above and beyond caring for not only him but their Mother as well.
