Rebecca Ann Smith

Rebecca Ann Smith, 65, of Four Oaks, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at home on June 11, 2025, surrounded by love. Born on November 6, 1959, in Dothan, Alabama, Rebecca lived a life marked by compassion, strength, and deep devotion to both her family and her calling.

Rebecca earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing and spent her career as a dedicated registered nurse. Her work was more than a profession—it was a vocation through which she offered healing, comfort, and dignity to countless patients over the years. Known for her calm presence and kind heart, she was deeply respected and loved by colleagues and patients alike.

Outside of her career, Rebecca embraced life with warmth and curiosity. She loved traveling and treasured time spent with family. She was an avid reader, a skilled crocheter, and a passionate gardener who found peace with her hands in the soil. She also had an enduring love for Auburn football—game days were sacred, and she cheered the Tigers on with pride.

Rebecca is survived by her daughter Jan Fulford and son-in-law Scott Fulford; her daughter Cindy Downes; and her beloved grandchildren Madison Fulford, Morgan Fulford, and James Downes. She was the heart of her family and a source of unconditional love, wisdom, and strength.

Her presence will be profoundly missed, but her legacy lives on in those she loved and cared for so deeply.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Rebecca’s memory.
