Rachel Eloise Bonds

Benson, NC:  Mrs. Rachel Eloise Bonds, age 102, died Sunday, September 8, 2019 at Magnolia Glen in Raleigh.  Funeral Service will be 2:00-PM, Thursday, September 12, 2019 at Benson Baptist Church in Benson.  Officiating will be Dr. Lynn Buzzard. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Benson.             Mrs. Bonds was born November 11, 1916 in Johnston County to the late William Franklin and Nellie Byrd Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Austin Bonds, sister, Mary Butts and her brothers, Frank Smith and Woodrow Smith.  Mrs. Bonds was an educator and principal in Benson retiring with 43 years of service. She was a member of Benson Baptist Church, The Eastern Star, Delta Kappa Gamma and various other service organizations.             Surviving include her daughters, Susan Bonds Doffermyre of Raleigh and Rebecca Bonds Redd of Shallotte, NC; grandchildren, Thayer Doffermyre Van Horn, Ryan Redd, Katie Ward and Rachel Redd; great-grandchildren, Eloise Van Horn, Ethan Ward, Ivan Van Horn, Anna Everette Van Horn and Emma Ward.             The family will receive friends 1:00 PM-1:45 PM, Thursday, September 12, 2019 in the fellowship hall at the church.             In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Carnegie Hall Choir Fund, C/O Benson Baptist Church, PO Box 323 Benson, NC 27504.             Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.roseandgraham.com
