Coats, NC: Mrs. Phyllis Ann Jackson Champion “MeMa”, age 75, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2025, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM-8:00PM-Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Coats, NC. Funeral Services will be held 11:00AM, Thursday, September 25, 2025 at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Coats, NC. Rev. Tim Batten will officiate. Burial will follow in Coats City Cemetery in Coats, NC.
Mrs. Champion was born on April 12, 1950, in Johnston County, NC, to the late Felton and Vada Norris Jackson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Irving Jackson Champion, Jr., and siblings, Billy Jackson, Tommy Jackson, Bo Jackson, Pop Jackson, Helen Lee, Pee Wee Jackson, and Doodie Jackson. For over 26 years, Mema was a childcare provider in her home. She loved to shop, bake, and was always there for her church and her family. She was a member of Pleasant Plains Community Church in Buies Creek.
Survivors include her children, Bobby Joe Champion and wife, Brandy, Tammy Gwen Dudley, and Christopher Champion, and wife, LeeAnn; grandchildren, Carleigh Champion, Macy Champion, Nate Champion, Tyler Dudley, Maddux Champion, and George Champion; great-grandchildren, Barrett “Bear” Lamm, and Brooks “Scooter” Lamm; brother, Robert Jackson and wife, Vivian, sister, Lula Norris and husband, Danny; special dog, Peanut; many nieces and nephews.
