Mrs. Sexton was born on February 28, 1946 in Marion County, Alabama to the late Basil Odell and Eva Lee Couch Martin. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Karl Sexton. Mrs. Sexton was a Pastor’s Wife for 59 years and retired having taught school and worked as a dietician. She was the definition of a Proverbs 31 woman; a devout Christian whose love and compassion followed her through life. Her love and care were not only present with her family but also extended to her church family and many students that she inspired through her career who still remember how she made an impact on their lives. She was an amazing cook who loved to feed her family for all occasions but also many people who she met through ministry as well. She was the role model for her family who looked to her as an example of who a good Christian person should be. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Surviving includes her husband of 61 years, Dr. Johnny Sexton; her children, Tracy Lynn Wilson and husband, Ray, Rev. John David Sexton and wife, Charity, and Teresa Michelle Snipes and husband, Rev. Douglas Snipes; daughter-in-law, Lourdes Sexton; grandchildren, Jonathan Sexton, Timothy Sexton, Leah Dell, Amber Young, Brittany Gower, Angel Wilson, Nicole Wilson, Katie Wilson, Austen Sexton, Devan Sexton, Chassity Arredondo, Cailey Sexton, Ashley Stockdale, Spencer Snipes, and Alexis McPherson; 21 great grandchildren; siblings, Roger Martin, Lucy Cox, and Debbie Rupik; step-mother, Margaret Martin; 5 step-sisters; 1 step-brother; and many nieces and nephews.
