Mr. Oker Kenneth Keene, Jr., age 93, passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 5, 2026 at his residence. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00AM, Monday, November 9, 2026 at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Coats, NC. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A private burial will follow in Coats City Cemetery in Coats, NC. Rev. Chris Hilliard will officiate. 

Born on November 20, 1932, he lived life devoted to his family, his country, and the education of others. After graduating from High Point College in 1955, Kenneth proudly served two years of active duty in the US Army, and continued his military service in the Army Reserves until 1962. On November 6, 1959, he married the love of his life, Cecile Elaine Jones Keene and they built their life together in Coats, NC. Kenneth dedicated 32 years of his life teaching in the Harnett County School System, where he surely influenced generations of students. He also ran his parents’ local business, O.K. Keene & Company, after their passing until the early to mid-1980’s.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents Oker Kenneth Keene, Sr., and Billie Black Keene.

He leaves behind his wife of 67 years, Elaine, who cared for him with unwavering devotion until the very end; his beloved daughter, Gina Keene Ryals and husband, Clarence; and his grandson, Dylan Ryals; and great-grandson, Jack Ryals.
