Norman Delano

Benson, NC: Mr. Norman Bruce Delano, age 61, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, NC. A Memorial Service will be 5:00PM-Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson, NC. Rev. Billy Olsen will officiate.             Mr. Delano was born on June 21, 1959 in Johnston County to the late Ralph E. and Muriel “Mickie” Howe Delano.  He was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Christopher “Chris” Lee.  Mr. Delano was the owner and operator of The County Press and longtime publisher of the Four Oaks-Benson News in Review. He was a former board member with the Benson Area Chamber of Commerce and served as chair of the Mule Days vendor committee for more than 20 years. Norman loved the UNC Tarheels and NASCAR.  In his time off he loved to play golf, spend time with others, and to help his wife with their cat rescue mission.             Surviving include his wife of 43 years, Denise Hall Delano; daughter, Letitia Lee; granddaughters, Mary Lauren Lee and Jana Brooke Lee; brother, Ralph C. Delano; sister-in-law, Faye Dixon; several nieces and nephews; special fur baby, Bonnie.               The family will receive friends following the service on Wednesday at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson, NC.               In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorials to the Johnston County Animal Protection League, PO Box 607, Smithfield, NC 27577.               In accordance with NC-COVID-19 guidelines, the funeral home suggests practicing social distancing and the three W's: wait, wash, and wear a face covering. Prayers for the family. Was just telling grandkids about old paper use to ne in the block Princess threatre was in and I helped Norman and the Delano's put together pamphlets for something.
