Mrs. Myra Jean Strickland Allen, age 86, of Selma, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2025 at Barbour Court Nursing and Rehabilitation. The family will be holding services for her and will announce them at a later date.

Mrs. Allen was born on September 15, 1939 in Johnston County to the late George Paul and Mittie Pearl Harper Strickland. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Richard Williford and Franklin D. Allen; son, Timothy Leon Barbour; brothers, James Edward Strickland and Paul Glenn Strickland; and sister, Bertha Mae Woolard. Prior to retirement, she was a seamstress. She loved fish both fresh water and salt water and could craft and sew anything. When she was able, she loved to throw Pig Pickins’ for her son, Timothy. She also loved to watch soap operas. Mrs. Allen will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend.

Surviving are her children, Mason William Barbour, Jr. and girlfriend, Doris and Elizabeth Ann Poste and boyfriend, Ronnie; grandchildren, Renee Nicole Mendoza, Timothy Dale Poste, Erica Barbour, Judy Fritts, and Lisa Lee; great grandchildren, Hunter, Haylee, Nicholas, Heather, Daniel, Matt, Kenny, Catherine, Patricia, Bubba, and Autumn; and many nieces and nephews.
