Mr. Sherwood Lee Pope and Mrs. Doris Knox Pope

Coats, NC:  Mr. Sherwood Lee Pope, age 82, and Mrs. Doris Knox Pope, age 78  of  Carson Gregory Road died Monday, December 14, 2020 at UNC Rex Healthcare side by side and holding hands. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, December 17, 2020 at Benson Grove Baptist Church in Benson.  Burial will follow in Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Angier, NC. Officiating will be Dr. Billy Cashwell.           Mr. Pope was born on January 21, 1938 in Harnett County to the late Samuel and Annie Mae Williams Pope. He was a retired maintenance man with HP Maintenance. Mrs. Pope was born on March 21, 1942 in Harnett County to the late David Matthew and Virgie Williams Knox. She retired from  furniture upholstery. They were both preceded in death by their son, Michael D. Pope; and their brothers and sisters. Mr. and Mrs. Pope attended Benson Grove Baptist Church and were extremely loved by their family and friends.               Surviving are their sons, Brian Pope and wife, Kathy of Coats, Shelton Pope and wife, Sharessa of Dunn; grandchildren, Brian Ellis Pope, II and wife, Crystal, Savannah DaNae Pope, Amanda Michelle Ennis and husband, Matthew, Dalton Trey Pope; great-grandchildren, Matthew Ryan Pope, Kaleigh Nicole Pope, Riley Anthony Sloan, Ryland Bruce Ennis; Mr. Pope's brother and sister, Sammy Pope and wife, Diane of Coats, Barbara Gardner and husband, Norfleet of Coats; Mrs. Pope's brothers, David Ronald "Ronnie" Knox and wife, Grace of Clayton, Joseph Matthew Knox of Coats; many nieces and nephews.               Mr. and Mrs. Pope  will be available for viewing and you will be able to sign the register book from 9:00AM-5:00PM on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Coats, NC. The family will not be present during this time.  The Pope Family will be receiving family and friends at the home of Shelton and Sharessa Pope, 206 Briarcliff Drive, Dunn, NC 28334.             In accordance with the current NC-COVID-19 guidelines, the funeral home suggests practicing social distancing guidelines and the three W's: wait, wash and wear a face covering.  A mask is required for the services.            Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to Benson Grove Baptist Church, 6966 Hwy 50 North Benson, NC 27504.             Condolences may be sent to the family at www.roseandgraham.com             Arrangements by Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Coats, NC 27521.
