Benson, NC: Mrs. Mavis Byrd Johnson, age 100, of Railroad Road passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Graveside Funeral Services will be held at a later date.

Mrs. Johnson was born on September 7, 1925 in Harnett County, NC, to the late Ben and Rosa Stephenson Byrd. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Linwood “Skin” Johnson; a daughter, Freda J. Moore; great-grandson, D. J. Johnson; and several sisters and brothers. Mrs. Johnson worked along side her husband operating Johnson Heating and Air. She loved and cherished her family. Mrs. Johnson enjoyed feeding and watching her birds.

Survivors include her sons, Jimmy Johnson and wife, Judy, Vass Johnson and wife, Kelly; grandchildren, Anthony Johnson and wife, Laura, Jamie Johnson, Eric Johnson and wife, Allie, Alex Johnson, DeAnna Hurley, Summer Edwards, Danny Moore, II; Fourteen Great-Grandchildren; son-in-law, Danny Moore; many nieces and nephews.
