Coats, NC: Mr. Marx Dunbar Stewart, age 89, of Coats, NC passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2025 at his residence with his daughter by his side. Funeral Services will be held-2:00 PM Monday, December 15, 2025 at Prospect Free Will Baptist Church in Dunn. Officiating will be Rev. Brian Cameron. Burial will follow in Coats City Cemetery.

Mr. Stewart was born on September 25, 1936 to the late Fred Monroe and Bessie Ann Stewart. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gwendolyn Dixon Stewart and his siblings, Alice, Naomi, Eurice, C.M., and Freddie Mack. Mr. Stewart was a veteran serving proudly in the U.S. Navy and later was a member of the American Legion Veterans Organization. He retired from AT&T Technologies Inc. where he worked as an IT Software Engineer. He enjoyed many vacations at the beach and lake with family and friends and attended Prospect Free Will Baptist Church.

He was a devoted husband and father and friends to many.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Lynne and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM prior to the service in Prospect Free Will Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
