Margie Holden Parker

Smithfield, NC: Mrs. Margie Holden Parker, age 93, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.  Funeral Services will be held 12:00PM, Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Hopewell Free Will Baptist Church, Smithfield, NC.  Rev. Roger Hill will officiate.  Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park in Smithfield, NC.

Mrs. Parker was born on September 7, 1929 in Wake County, NC to the late Henry and Mildred Raines Holden.  She was preceded in death by her siblings, Claude Holding, Helon Cooke, Clara Cooke, Gracie Beck, Myrtle Castleberry, and Robert “Buck” Holden.  Mrs. Parker was an avid homemaker who lovingly prepared many meals for her family.  She was a member of Hopewell Free Will Baptist Church, Smithfield, NC, and served in the Ladies’ Auxiliary. She particularly enjoyed helping with the Hopewell Fall Bazaar.  

Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Melvin Eli Parker, daughters, Lisa Parker Presson and husband, Jim, and Lane Parker Raskauskas and husband, Paul; grandchildren, Lauren Holden Valenti and husband, Daniel, Leigh Ann Hatch and husband, Andrew, William Austin Presson, Jane Parker Corchiani and husband, Christopher, and Jonathan Peter Raskauskas, great-grandchildren, Wyatt Dale Hatch, Luke Andrew Hatch, and Bryce Christopher Corchiani, sister, Ruby Lee Pearce, brother, Harold Raines Holden; many loving nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 10:45AM-11:45AM on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Hopewell Free Will Baptist Church, Smithfield, NC, and other times at the home.

Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to Hopewell Free Will Baptist Church 5835 Black Creek Road, Smithfield, NC 27577, or to the Alzheimer’s Association 8171 Glenwood Ave, Suite 101, Raleigh, NC 27612.
