Lula Mae Miller Pleasant

Benson, NC: Mrs. Lula "Mae" Miller Pleasant, age 93 of Hodges Chapel Road passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at The Carrolton of Dunn. Graveside Funeral Services will be 11:00AM – Thursday, May 8, 2025 in the Hodges Chapel Church Cemetery in Benson. Rev. Wanda Barrier will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the graveside service.

Mae was born on December 24, 1931 in Harnett County to the late Charlie Henry and Iva Mae Altman Miller. She was the second oldest of seven children. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Robert Clyde Miller Pleasant; daughter, Pamela Gautier and husband, Curtis; brothers and sister, T. C.  Miller, Charlie Glenn Miller, Otis Carrol Miller, and Joyce Faye Miller Stancil; sisters-in-law, Mildred Miller, and Janice Miller; brother-in-law, Jerry Stancil.

Mae married Robert Clyde Pleasant on December 5, 1947. The joy of their life, their daughter, Pam was born in December of 1950. Even more joy came with the birth of their grandson, Chandler in 1971. After many years as a homemaker, she went to work at The Value Pak in Benson. Mae loved her work and formed many lifelong friends there. She was an excellent cook and was known for her cakes, pies, and famous tea cakes, always something sweet at her house! One of her favorite pastimes was embroidery. A quilt made of her embroidered squares (Children of the World) won a ribbon at the NC State Fair in 2022. Until recently, she was an avid reader, going through a stack of books in no time!

Left to cherish her memory are her grandson, Chandler Gautier and wife, Cheryl of Dunn; brother, Bobby Miller, and wife. Laura of Dunn; sister, Wanda Kay McLamb and husband, George of Benson; and a sister-in-law, Jackie Miller of Wilmington. She loved her many nieces and nephews very much and will be missed by them!

A special thank you to the staff at The Carrolton of Dunn for her excellent care the past nineteen months and to the Gentiva Hospice of Lillington.
