Benson, NC: Mrs. Lorease Moore Hayes, age 92 of Surles Road passed away on Friday, January 9, 2026 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield surrounded by her loving family. Family will receive friends and family from 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Monday, January 12, 2026 at the Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Benson and other times at the home. Funeral Services will be 3:00PM Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at Banner Chapel Advent Christian Church in Benson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Joe Brown will officiate.
Mrs. Hayes was born on December 28, 1933 in Johnston County to the late Eustice Moore and Venie Barefoot Moore Massengill. She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Lenward Hayes; granddaughter, Karen Spivey; brothers, Melvin Moore and Jerry Moore, Sr.; sister, Magdalene Taylor. Mrs. Hayes retired from Terre Hill as a seamstress and continued her joy of sewing. She also owned and operated alongside her husband, the Enchanted Barn Nightclub for 35 years. Mrs. Hayes enjoyed going fishing, loved to ride her motorcycle, and enjoyed traveling. She was a member of Banner Chapel Advent Christian Church and a member of the WHFM Society. Mrs. Hayes always looked forward to spending time with her friends in the Benson Widow’s Association.
She is survived by her children, Sylvia Wallace and husband, Chris, Ann Raynor Barham and husband, Donnie, Mark Hayes and wife, Suzzan; grandchildren, Scott Langdon, Kelly Jarman and husband, Michael, Lori Turnage, Heather Gerrell, and Amber Hayes; great-grandchildren, Freddy Wayne Turnage, Jordan Raynor, Trysten Hayes, Blayden Langdon, Giovanni Feliciano, Mylan Feliciano, and Hannah Messer Santiago and husband, Erick; sisters and brother, Marshall Massengill, Wilma Dunn and husband, Ronnie, and Pam Tyler; brother-in-law, Jim Taylor and several nieces and nephews.
