Leroy Baker

Four Oaks, NC: Mr. Leroy Baker, age 72, of 222B Heath Road passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Funeral Services will be held-2:00 PM Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at Rose and Graham Funeral Chapel in Four Oaks. Officiating will be Rev. Freddy Wayne Langston. Burial will follow in Barbour’s Chapel Advent Christian Church Cemetery.

Mr. Baker was born on December 28, 1950 in Johnston County to the late Paul Gilbert and Merry Magalene Baker. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pat Baker and siblings, James Edward Baker, Jimmy Daniel Baker, Shirley Faye Holley, Barbara Gayle Pitts, Alex Andrew Baker, Donald Hubert Baker, and Paul Baker, Jr. Mr. Baker worked for Lampe-Malphus sawmill for over 44 years prior to his retirement. He loved the mountains, fishing, and spending time with his family. He was especially proud of his work as a member of Carpenters for Christ, an organization that helps build churches all over the country, during his time with them he helped to build 13 churches all over the United States. He was a member of Stewarts Chapel and a loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

Survivors include his children, Patricia Lynne Ferrell and husband, Chris of Kenly, Theresa Lee and husband, Jesse of Four Oaks, Paula Baker of Four Oaks, and Gary Sanderford and wife, Deanna of Clayton; grandchildren, Anna Lynne Spoon, Savannah Rose Massey, Jessica Lee, Dylan Lee, and Garrison Sanderford; great grandchildren, Andrew Tyler Vincent, River Vincent, Payton Strickland, and Chelsee Strickland; sister, Bertha Dean Hocutt of Four Oaks; brothers, Norwood H. Baker of Four Oaks, Sam Baker of Four Oaks, and Major Paul Baker of Smithfield; special friend, Mary Emery of Clinton; and several nieces and nephews.  

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, April 4, 2023 and other times at Mr. Baker’s home.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Childrens Hospital at 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
