Four Oaks, NC: Mr. Lawrence Wayne Parnell, age 66 of Saddle Creek Trail passed away on Friday, January 23, 2026 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh, NC. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 5:00PM Friday, January 30, 2026 at Blackman’s Grove Baptist Church in Four Oaks. Officiating will be Rev. Rodney Wilson. Family will receive friends following the service.

Wayne was born on March 1, 1959 in Johnston County to the late Lawrence Marvin and Mary Elizabeth Parnell. He was preceded in death by his late wife, Susan Johnson Parnell; brother, David Marvin Parnell and his sister, Susan Parnell Jones.

Wayne was a loving fiancé and a devoted father to his children. He was taken far too soon, leaving behind a family who loved him dearly. Wayne worked many years at the Cotton Mill in Selma and Channel Master in Smithfield. Wayne loved to cook with Faith and spend time with his family. Wayne loved making Faith’s Day. Wayne loved to fish with his children and play outside with them. Wayne enjoyed many car rides to and from school with his daughter Sarah Ann listening to Rock and Roll music. Wayne enjoyed wrestling with Michael as he was growing up and enjoyed playing trucks and cars with Mark. Wayne loved to talk and carry on a conversation with anybody and spend time with friends.

Wayne is survived by his fiancé, Faith Parker of Four Oaks, his children Michael Wayne Parnell of Texas, Sarah Ann Woodall, and Mark Marvin Parnell of Four Oaks; sister, Connie Stanley and Danny of Four Oaks, sister, Sandy Shryock of Arkansas, Special Nieces Pamela Capps ( Travis) of Four Oaks and Sarah Messer of Texas; future father and mother-in-law, Gary and Holly Nord of Four Oaks; future sisters-in-law, Courtney MacDonald (Zach) of Coats and Lydia Nord of Four Oaks; Many other loving family members.
