Ken Swartz, 89, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2026. Born on May 11, 1937, in Columbus, Ohio, Ken lived a life defined by hard work, dedication to his family, and steady devotion to those he loved.

Ken built a successful career in cost accounting and purchasing, following the completion of a Business Administration curriculum at Franklin University and his service in the Ohio National Guard. He spent the majority of his career at Westinghouse Electric Corporation and IXL Furniture Co., where his diligence and expertise were highly valued. In 1969, Ken relocated with his young family to Elizabeth City, North Carolina, as part of a job transfer with IXL — a move that would shape the next chapter of the family's life.

Ken was predeceased by his parents, Raymond and Nellie Swartz, and by his beloved wife, Bonnie Swartz.

He is survived by his son, Chip Swartz, and daughter-in-law, Jennifer Swartz; and his daughter, MacKenzie Swartz. He will also be remembered fondly by his grandchildren and many friends whose lives he touched along the way.

Ken will be lovingly remembered as a devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, and friend. His warmth, work ethic, and steady presence leave behind a legacy cherished by all who knew him.

He will be deeply missed.
