Benson, NC: Mrs. Katie McLamb, age 79, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at UNC Johnston Health in Smithfield, NC, surrounded by her loving family. The family will receive friends from 12:30PM-1:45PM, Tuesday, April 28, 2026 at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson, NC. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00PM in the Funeral Chapel. Rev. Glenn McCullen and Rev. Wanda Berrier will officiate. Burial will follow in Banner Chapel Advent Christian Church Cemetery, Benson, NC.

Mrs. McLamb was born on October 22, 1946 in Johnston County, NC, to the late Carson and Velma Dunn McLamb. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her son, Rodney Maylon McLamb, daughter, Frances Michelle McLamb, granddaughter, Kaylon Lynette McLamb,and siblings, Alice Capps and Gladys Faye Roberts. Mrs. McLamb was the owner and operator of McLamb’s Rest Home in Benson, NC. It was not a place of business for her, rather a place of worship, where she took care of and loved her people unconditionally.

Survivors include her husband of 64 years, Maylon McLamb; daughter, Francesca “Fran” McLamb and husband, Dean; grandchildren, Cayden McLamb, Karson McLamb, Lance McLamb, and Jordan Hill; great-grandchildren, Lennex McLamb and Jaxon McLamb; special daughter, Monica Ruiz; and many loving nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Annie Williams and Marlie Mooneyham for their loving care shown to Mrs. Katie.
