Garner, NC: Mr. John Edgar “Eddie” Hudson, age 84, passed away on Sunday, July 05, 2026 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC, surrounded by his loving family. The family will receive friends from 1:30PM-2:45PM-Sunday, July 12, 2026 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson, NC. Funeral Services will be held 3:00PM-Sunday, July 12, 2026 at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson, NC. Rev. Benjimin Acton will officiate. Burial will follow in Monroe Lee Cemetery in the Meadow Community.

Eddie was born on January 4, 1942 in Johnston County, NC, to the late Edgar “Jack” Royal and Clyde Lee Hudson. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sister, Zella Johnson. Eddie worked as a customer engineer for IBM for 30 plus years. He was an avid artist painting beautiful tropical scenes. The story goes Eddie started painting after he realized his wife was spending their hard earned money on paintings. As a dare his wife bought him art supplies to get him started as an artist. Eddie had a witty sense of humor, often finding the humor in everyday life. Eddie was a hard worker and anything he put his mind to he could fix. Eddie loved his family and loved to joke with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Judy Hudson; a son, Dr. Christopher Hudson and wife, Nell of New Bern; grandchildren, Randall Hudson and Baker Hudson; and a brother, Mike Hudson.
