Joel Quinn Murray, 57, owner and operator of J&J Irrigation, passed away November 5, 2025 surrounded by love after battling lung cancer for almost two years. He was born November 01, 1968. He was the youngest son of John Russell Murray Sr. and Rebecca Parker Murray, who were both preceded in death.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held 3:00PM Thursday, November 13, 2025 at White Oak Baptist Church in Clayton. The family will be receiving family and friends following the memorial service.

Joel was born and raised in Raleigh and graduated from Millbrook High School in 1987 where he was also a part of the wrestling team. He also attended Calvary Baptist Church in his younger years. In Joel’s spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and most importantly he enjoyed spending his time with his family.

Joel was a loving husband to Carol Reynolds Murray and a devoted father to his children, Christopher Michael Kirkland (Chris), Sierra Reynolds Klaiber, Rebecca Lynne Murray (Becky), and John Cutler Murray (Johnny). He was especially proud of his grandchildren Alexis (Lexi) Kirkland, Kenzii Kirkland, Lucas Kirkland and Collins Klaiber. Joel is also survived by his two brothers, John Russell Murray Jr. and Spencer Monroe Murray.

The family would like to extend appreciation to the White Oak Baptist Church congregation as well as family and friends who supported Joel throughout his terminal illness and his life.
