Jewel McLamb Allen

Dunn, NC: Mrs. Jewel McLamb Allen, age 96, of Davis Ave. passed away Friday, November 19, 2021 at the Transitions Life Care in Raleigh surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Services will be 2:00PM- Monday, November 22, 2021at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be Rev. Jeff Johnson. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Benson.

Mrs. Allen was born on May 29, 1925 in Johnston County to the late L. Herbert and Eula Barbour McLamb Wiggs. She was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jim” Allen; sister, Edna Smith Davis; brothers, Brantley McLamb and Rifton McLamb. Mrs. Allen graduated from Benson High School in 1942 and Hardbarger's Business College in Raleigh. She married James L. Allen in 1946 and lived in Alexandria, VA. Mrs. Allen worked for the North Carolina Department of Revenue in Raleigh and the Department of Defense, Ft. Belvoir, VA until her retirement in 1978. She and her husband returned to North Carolina and enjoyed many happy years together. She was a member of Westfield Baptist Church in Dunn, active in the Garden Club, and was a volunteer with Betsy Johnson Regional Hospital Auxiliary in Dunn.

Surviving are her son, James Kenneth Allen; grandsons, Brian M. Allen and William J. Allen; great-grandchildren, Kailey A. Allen and Jacob T. Allen; several nieces and nephews.

Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 5171 Glenwood Avenue, Suite 101 Raleigh, NC 27612.

Family will receive friends from 1:00PM to 1:45PM on Monday, November 22, 2021 prior to the service and other times at the home.
