Benson, NC: Mr. Jerry Franklin Tart, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 at SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, NC surrounded by his loving family. The family will receive friends from 1:00PM-1:45PM, Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Smyrna Original Free Will Baptist Church in Dunn. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00PM in the Smyrna Original Free Will Baptist Church Sanctuary. Revs. Billy Nowell, Glenn McCullen, Greg Tart, Rodney Pearce and Mr. Mathias Doyle will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Tart was born on June 25, 1944, in Johnston County, NC to the late Cory and Irene McLamb Tart. He was also preceded in death by wife, Hilda Ivey Tart; sister, Edna Sue Byrd and a brother, Larry G. Tart. Mr. Tart was a retired construction worker and a member of Smyrna Original Free Will Baptist Church in Dunn. He loved all of his family, friends, and enjoyed going to the beach. Mr. Tart was an avid deer hunter, loved setting his rabbit boxes, and love to work in his big garden.

Survivors include his sisters, Doris Jean Parker, Betty Lou Byrd and husband, Donald, Judy Barefoot, and Linda McLamb and husband, Tommy; step-children, Timmy Allen and wife, Barbara, Curtis Allen and wife, Cindy, Joe Allen, Ivey Allen and wife, Imogene, and Amanda Turner; ten step-grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; special friend, Brenda Stewart; and several nieces and nephews.
