Jerry lived a full and eventful life in his 74 years. He was born on November 21, 1951 to Luther Earl and Grace Wheeler Hall and raised in Benson, NC. As a teenager, Jerry worked as a meat cutter and held various other jobs. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he served from 1971-1975 as a crewman on a P3 sub chaser. During his service, he was stationed in Great Lakes, Illinois; Memphis, Tennessee; Jacksonville, Florida; Sicily, Italy; and Reykjavik, Iceland. Jerry graduated from N.C. Prior to retirement, Jerry worked as a landscape architect and contractor for 25 years in Libertyville, Illinois; Chicago, Illinois; and Raleigh, North Carolina. Jerry was a self-made man of many talents. Most notably, he was an artist, a photographer, a leather craftsman, a musician and singer; and he loved sailing. He enjoyed traveling, and spent time in Savannah, the Caribbean, Mexico, Arizona, and Europe.
Survivors include partner, Teresa Cyr; former spouse, Jenny McGrail, and son, Beau Hall; former spouse, Cindy Moore, and step-son, Chris Moore; sister, Janice Myatt; and close friend of over sixty years, David Wayne McLamb; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Diane.
Jerry had many devoted friends and family, and he will be sorely missed. While not expected, a tree planted in his memory would be greatly appreciated.
