Mr. James “Jimmy” “J.J.” Edward Evans, Jr., age 64, of Aurelian Springs Road, Littleton, NC, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2022 at his residence. Funeral Services will be held-3:00PM, Monday, May 30, 2022 at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Benson, NC. Officiating will be Mr. Barry Evans, Mr. Scott Barefoot, and Mr. Lee West. Burial will follow at Roselawn Cemetery in Benson, NC.
Mr. Evans was born in Halifax County on July, 15, 1957 to James Edward Evans Sr. and Emma Sewell Evans. He was preceded in death by his father. Mr. Evans worked in pulp mill management at WestRock for over 38 years and was the assistant softball coach at Roanoke Rapids High School for 17 years. He was active president of Seaboard Hunt Club in Seaboard, NC. He was an avid sportsman that enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Surviving includes his wife, Sue Moore Evans; mother, Emma Sewell Evans; daughters, Kristy Evans Griffin and husband, Cory and Valerie Turnage and husband, Steven; sons, Michael James Evans and Scott Barefoot, and wife, Traci; grandchildren, Bland Turnage, Graci Barefoot, Wilton Barefoot, and Carson Griffin; brother, Barry Evans and wife, Kelly; niece, Elizabeth Evans Ceaser; and nephew, Matthew Evans.
The family will receive friends from 6:00PM-8:00PM on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at 739 Virginia St., Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870 and from 6:00PM-8:00PM on Sunday, May 29, 2022 at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Benson, NC and other times at the home of Steven and Valerie Turnage at 315 Stone's Creek Road, Four Oaks, NC 27524.
