Benson, NC: Mrs. Irene House Capps Raynor of Benson, NC passed away on Monday, September 14, 2026 at the age of 95. Irene was born on September 30, 1930 in Sampson County. 

She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Troy and Lilian House. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James A. Raynor; step-son Tony Raynor; several brothers and sisters; sons-in-law, Raeford Allen Beasley and Melbourne David Manning II; special friends Julius Ivey and Sue Pearce. 

Irene retired after 20 years of service with the state of NC as a Dietician at Murdoch Developmental Center in Burner, NC. She was well known locally as a restaurateur, owning and managing popular spots including The Blue Top, Sue’s and Capps Truck Stop. Kindness flowed effortlessly from Irene and she always made an effort to help those in need. She was a true caregiver and nothing made her happier than seeing others smile. She loved spending time with family and friends, listening and dancing to music, preparing and enjoying delicious meals, and shopping with her daughters.

 Irene is survived by her two daughters, Marilyn Beasley and Sheila Manning; three grandchildren, April Taylor and husband, Wayne, Valerie Beasley Ennis and husband, Steven, and Melbourne David Manning III and wife Cher; ten great grandchildren, Ashtin Hueber, Callie Gilliam, Josie Ferrell, Vivian and Beasley Siebert, Drake, Colt and Ava Grace Ennis, and Jack and Jared Taylor; nine great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and countless special friends who were family, including ‘nephew’ Ronnie Hardison.

A celebration of Irene's 96 years of life, love, and laughter will be held on September 30, 2026 at 3:00 pm in Benson.
