Four Oaks, NC: Mr. Hobert Glenn Barefoot, age 74, of Skinner Road passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, with his loving family by his side. The family will receive friends from 5:00PM to 8:00PM Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson. Funeral Services will be 2:00PM-Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be Family and Friends. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Benson, NC.
Mr. Barefoot was born in Harnett County, NC to the late Hobart Linwood and Ora Lee Tart Barefoot. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Linwood Barefoot. Mr. Barefoot was a farmer for many years. He was an educator for over 40 years working with Johnston County Public Schools and later retired from North Carolina Department of Public Instruction as the director of VICA/SKILLS USA of North Carolina. Mr. Barefoot was a retired volunteer fireman with the Meadow Fire Department and enjoyed working with his son, Adam at NC Glazing & Fabrication. He loved the simple things of life, traveling to 49 of 50 states, and spending time with family and friends at the beach. Mr. Barefoot was a devoted family man and a true friend who loved his community and cherished the many relationships he built throughout his life.
Survivors include the love of his life of 54 years, Wanda W. Barefoot; children, Adam Glenn Barefoot and wife, Mary Jon, Leanne Barefoot Daughtry and husband, Kevin; grandchildren, Evan Wood Barefoot, Isaac Lee Barefoot, Luke Adams Daughtry, and Thad Michael Daughtry; sister, Sylvia Rose Stafford and husband, Macon; sisters-in-law, Gayle Barefoot and Sandra Wood; brothers-in-law, Johnny Jernigan and wife, Robin and Jerry Jernigan and wife, Kim; many nieces and nephews.
Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to the SECU Hospice House, P.O. Box 1376, Smithfield, NC 27577 or the Meadow Fire Department, 7409 NC Hwy 50 South, Benson, NC 27504.
The family appreciates your thought and prayers during this time, and they will be receiving friends other times at the home.
