Harry Carlyle Denton

July 23, 1945 — March 27, 2020

Harry Carlyle Denton, age 74, of Coats, departed this life on Friday, March 27, 2020 at Wake Medical Center from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. A private graveside service will be held for the immediate family at Coats City Cemetery at 1 pm on Thursday, April 2, 2020. A Celebration of Life service will be planned and announced at a later date.             He was born on July 23, 1945 in Coats, NC to the late Carlyle Denton and Jean Williams Denton Maynor. Harry was preceded in death by his brother, Glenn Denton. Harry was a 1964 graduate of Coats High School. He was a recently retired Insurance Adjuster, having worked at James C. Greene Company, in Raleigh, NC for over 30 years. Harry left this world doing what he loved the most; riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He was an active member and Deacon at Coats Community Church and a former Sunday School teacher.               Harry leaves behind his wife of 37 years, Glenda Lee Denton, sons Kenneth Denton of Graham, NC; Michael Denton (Ashley) of Boone, NC; Jamie Warren (Brenda) of Dunn, NC; and daughter, Angela Ingram (Chris) of Decatur, AL; brothers: David Maynor (Sharon), Dickie Maynor (Pam), sister Kim Allison (Steve), sister-in-law Jo Ann Denton (wife of his late brother Glenn Denton); grandchildren: Joshua Robbins (Cassie); Justin Warren, Angel Haywood (Robbie), Junior Rivera, Ashley Rivera (Randy), Jayden Denton, Elijah Warren & Zeke Maples; great-grandchildren Joseph West, Asa Rivera, Jaycee Joy Rivera, Khloe Haywood, Zoe Robbins, and Poppy McMillian; and many nieces and nephews.              Harry lived a very active life and was well known in the community. He had many hobbies to include Softball, Golf, his love for Street Rod cars and Civil War Reenactment. He was most proud of being a member of the Benson American Legion Riders Group. He has been involved in the Angier Masonic Lodge, Coats Lions Club, Eden Bell Civil War Reenactment, and the Harnett County Motorcycle Club. He also enjoyed being a part of the Men’s Social Club at Hardee’s where he spent time with one of his best friends, Roy Lee. He also leaves behind a special friend, spanning decades in time, Tony Mangum.             Flowers are welcomed; however memorials may be sent to Glenda Lee Denton, 274 E.
