Benson, NC: Mr. Hampton Beck McLamb, age 71, of Byrdtown Road passed away on Friday, August 7, 2026 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, NC surrounded by his loving family. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM to 8:00PM on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 at the Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00AM on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at the Providence Presbyterian Church in Angier. Officiating will be Rev. Roger Korsten.

Beck was born on December 7, 1954 in Harnett County to the late Junious Hampton and Charlotte Gray Capps McLamb. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Laura Joan Sutton McLamb with whom he shared a beautiful life and family; and his sister, LouAnn McLamb Pleasant. Beck retired after 42 years with Berry Plastics in Benson. Beck loved the simple things in life—fishing, being Down East, traveling, and spending time with the people he loved most. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Angie Herpich-McLamb, who brought so much love, companionship, and happiness into his life. Angie became not only his wife, but a cherished and deeply loved part of our family, and we will always be grateful for the love and care they shared. 

Beck was the best Daddy and Papa, and his family was truly his greatest joy. He never met a stranger and never missed an opportunity to tell anyone who would listen just how beautiful his girls were. Beck was immensely proud of his family and treasured every moment spent with his children and grandchildren. Beck’s faith was an important part of his life, and he was a devoted member of his church and community. He loved his church family dearly and found great joy in serving, worshiping, singing in the choir, and being surrounded by those he loved. He was an active part of organizing and running the church’s blood drives, a responsibility he took very seriously, and he was always proud to lend a helping hand wherever he was needed. Beck also loved frying fish for the church’s annual fish fry, a tradition he looked forward to and enjoyed being a part of each year.

Whether he was casting a line, enjoying a day Down East, traveling somewhere new, or simply sitting around with his family, Beck had a way of making ordinary moments special. He loved deeply, laughed often, and gave so much of himself to the people around him. Beck’s love for his family, his faith, and the places and traditions that meant so much to him will be carried on in all of us who were blessed to know and love him.

Beck is survived by his loving wife, Bettye Angela “Angie” Herpich-McLamb; daughters, Stephanie Gray McLamb and fiancé, Adrian Millwood, Amanda McLamb Weaver and husband, Adam; son, Grant John William Wilson; grandchildren, Audrey Grace Whitley, Presley Marie Whitley, and Adella Gray Weaver; brother, Jerry McLamb and wife, Henrietta; sister, Mary Ellen Faircloth and husband, Ricky; brother-in-law, Michael Angelo Herpich; several loving nieces and nephews.
