Gayle Johnson Flowers, age 75, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. A woman of profound kindness and unwavering devotion, she was the true heart of her family and a steady light to all that knew her. Graveside Service will be Monday, February 23, 2026 at 2:00PM at the Pleasant Grove OFWB Church Cemetery in Dunn. The Rev. Eddie White will officiate the service.
The family will greet friend on Monday, February 23, 2026 from 12:30PM to 1:30PM at the Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Coats.
Born and raised in North Carolina, Gayle carried the values of her home with her throughout her life. She dedicated herself entirely to the well-being and happiness of her family, creating a home filled with warmth, laughter, and the irresistible aroma of her cooking. Gayle was a master in the kitchen, but her meals were about much more than food; they were the glue that held her loved ones together. She possessed a rare gift for turning any occasion into a celebration, ensuring that every milestone was honored and every family member felt seen and loved.
Beyond her own front door, Gayle’s compassion knew no bounds. She was a woman of action who lived by the principle of helping those in need. Whether it was a quiet word of encouragement, a hot meal, or a helping hand, Gayle instinctively knew when someone was struggling and never hesitated to step in. When disabled family members needed a caretaker – she moved them into her home so they would never have to face a facility. She made it her mission in life to take care of others. She believed in dignity, in family, and in showing up for the people she loved, no matter the sacrifice. Even to her own declining health while having to use a wheelchair, and then when daily tasks became difficult -- she still found ways to serve others. In times when she could barely care for her own needs, she was still caring for everyone around her. That was simply who she was: selfless to her core and determined to give back more than she ever took.
She leaves behind a void that cannot be filled but also a blueprint for a life well-lived: one defined by love, generosity, strength, resilience, humor, and the simple, sacred act of showing up for others. Her memory will continue to guide those who loved her, reminding them to care deeply, laugh freely, savor the small moments, and hold one another close.
Gayle’s spirit lives on in the family she cherished so deeply. She is survived by her daughters Jenny Walker and Kristina Batts, sons-in-law Daniel Walker and Corey Batts, grandchildren Ryland Summerlin, Logan Walker, Abigail Walker, Harmony Batts, and Laura Batts. She leaves behind her brother and his wife Wayne and Darlene Johnson and sister Jane Vaughan.
She lived with kindness, served with her whole heart, and laughed with a spirit that brightened ever room. Her life was full, joyful, and beautiful her own – a life well lived.
