Angier, NC: Mr. Jackson Garner Byrd, age 88, passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, NC. Graveside Funeral Services will be held 11:00AM, Thursday, June 11, 2026 at the Byrd Family Cemetery, Angier, NC. The family will receive friends following the service. Rev. Kim Strickland will officiate. Mr. Byrd will lie in state from 12:00PM-5:00PM on Wednesday, June 10, 2026 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson, NC.

Mr. Byrd was born on December 26, 1937 in Harnett County, NC, to the late Robert Kelly Byrd and Laddis Virginia Messer Byrd. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Katie Bowling Byrd, son, Ronnie Ray Byrd; siblings, Vergie B. Barefoot, Marjorie B. Ausley, Marion B. Williams, Inez B. Powell, and Victor Byrd. Mr. Byrd was a retired brick mason. He loved hunting, fishing, and sharing his vegetables from his garden with his family and friends. Mr. Byrd was also a retired fireman with 50/210 Volunteer Fire Department with over 20 years of service.

Survivors include his daughter, Connie Byrd Ingram and husband, Kevin; grandchildren, Chad Creech and wife, Kerry, and David Ingram; great-grandchildren, Daniel, Kenny Mack, Carter Ray, and Landon; many nieces and nephews.

The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to the 50/210 Fire Department.
