Coats, NC: Mrs. Elizabeth Wiliford Grimes, age 98, of 1082 Delma Grimes Road died Tuesday, March 17, 2026 at Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehabilitation in Benson surrounded by her loving family. Graveside Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, March 21, 2026 at Harnett Devotional Gardens in Dunn. Officiating will be Revs. Jimmy Newkirk, Neal Thornton, and Chris Hilliard. Family will receive friends following the graveside service.

Mrs. Grimes was born on April 6, 1927 in Wake County to the late Ira Alton and Mary Mangum Williford. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Delma Grimes, Sr.; and her sister and brothers. Mrs. Grimes retired from the North Carolina Department of Transportation after 30 years of service. She loved to read a good book and enjoyed cooking. Mrs. Grimes was a member of Coats Baptist Church.

Surviving are her children and spouses, Linda Gail Grimes of Coats, James D. Grimes, Jr. and wife, Anita of Coats, Cheri E. Sauer and husband, Eric of Coats; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Mustard Seed Campaign, headed by Jesse Danner, for Neighborhood Churches in New Bedford, Massachusetts. Every Dollar Given is Doubled.
