Elizabeth “Beth” Dawn Matthews Barker, age 50, passed away peacefully at New Hanover Hospital surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, February 8, 2026, after a courageous battle.

She was born on February 22, 1975. Beth will be lovingly remembered for her strength, her enduring spirit, and the deep love she had for her family. She touched the lives of all who knew her and will be deeply missed.

Beth is survived by her son, Lennox “Knox” Barker of Wilmington, North Carolina; her sister, Lori Matthews of High Point, North Carolina; her brother, Tony Matthews (Wendy) of Garner, North Carolina; and her two nieces, Haley and Allie, also of Garner, North Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Alexandra Kylie Barker; her parents, Charles and Gloria Matthews; and both of her grandmothers.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Benson Baptist Church , Benson, NC, in Benson, North Carolina, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 14, with a luncheon to follow in the Fellowship Hall for the family. The family will receive friends prior to service at 10:00AM to 10:45AM at Benson Baptist Church, Benson, NC.

Beth’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her.
