Elgie Wood Rogers

Benson, NC: Mrs. Elgie Wood Rogers, age 90, of Morris Ave., passed away at Rolling Ridge in Newton Grove on Wednesday, December 14, 2022. Funeral Services will be held-11:00AM Friday, December 16, 2022 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Rev. Glenn McCullen will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Cemetery in Benson.

Mrs. Rogers was born on March 13, 1932 in Harnett County to the late Elijah “Buddy” Golden and Lomie Pearl Johnson Wood. She was preceded in death by her husband, Shelton Rogers; a grandson, Benjamin Luke Whitfield. Mrs. Rogers retired from Chicopee as a lab technician and was a member of Benson PFWB Church. She loved cooking for her family, gardening and had a special love for all her grandchildren.

Surviving are her children, Kay Rogers Whitfield and husband, Steve of Benson, Jerry Rogers and wife, Wanda of Four Oaks; grandchildren, Brandon Mark Whitfield, Benjamin Golden Whitfield and wife, Brooke, Stephen Matthew Whitfield and wife, Faith, Seth Eric Rogers and fiancé, Heather Rabil; great-grandchildren, Riley Marie Whitfield, Ethan James Whitfield, Hannah Rae Whitfield, Alisa Grace Whitfield, and Anders Whitfield; sister, Jackie Wood Matthews of Benson, brother, Larry Golden Wood of Winston-Salem; nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends prior to the service at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson from 10:00AM to 10:45AM on Friday and other times at the home.

The Rogers’ Family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Rolling Ridge Assisted Living and Pruitt Hospice for their excellent care of Mrs. Rogers.
