Edward William Gizzi

Edward William Gizzi, a devoted husband, proud father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home on September 12th, 2025, at the age of 79. Thanks to the care and hard work of his loving wife of 47 years, Janet.

Born to Peter and Cecelia Gizzi in Silver Creek, NY, August 2nd,1946. Ed grew up with a deep respect for tradition, hard work, and above all, family. For over five decades, he worked as a freight salesman — a career he took great pride in. He had an unmatched work ethic, a firm handshake, and a reputation for being honest, dependable, kind, and ready with Dunkin Donuts. To Ed, work wasn’t just a job; it was a way to provide for the people he loved most. His most recent employer was JP Express. They were wonderful to him throughout his tenure, during illness, and after.

He is survived by his loving wife, Janet, with whom he shared a life full of laughter, devotion, and unwavering partnership. Together, they raised three children: Jason, Jennifer (Scott), and Marc (Kayla-sue)— each of whom carry forward his values of integrity, dedication, and love for family.

Ed was also a proud grandfather to Troy (Michelle) and Calogero, and a joyful great-grandfather to Bryce, Lyla, and Madilynn. His face lit up whenever they entered the room, and he cherished every moment he spent with them. Whether it was family barbecues, birthdays, or simple Sunday dinners, Ed found his greatest happiness surrounded by his loved ones.

He also leaves a brother-in-law Salvatore Gianfortune and sister-in-law Maria Gizzi. Nieces Debra Sepulveda (Igor), Joann Heinlein (Brian), nephew in law Matthew Drago. And his beloved great nephews and nieces and their spouses and children. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Carmen and James, and niece Linda Drago.

He will be remembered as a family man in the truest sense — always present, always supportive, and always leading with love. His legacy is one of strength, loyalty, and the quiet power of showing up, every single day.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in his hometown on Long Island. In honor of Ed’s memory, the family asks that you spend time with your loved ones, share a good meal, and never take a single moment for granted. Donations in his memory can be made to the charity of your choosing.
