Benson, NC: Mrs. Edna “Sue” Tart Byrd, age 79 of Massengill Farm Road passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at her home surrounded by her loving family. The family will receive friends from 12:30PM to 1:30PM on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson. Graveside Funeral Services will be 2:00PM Wednesday, June 3, 2026 in the Banner Chapel Advent Christian Church Cemetery in Benson. Officiating will be Revs. Glenn McCullen and Greg Tart.

Mrs. Byrd was born February 14, 1947 in Johnston County to the late Coy and Irene McLamb Tart. She was preceded in death by her son, Mike Byrd; and her brother, Larry Tart. Mrs. Byrd worked in textiles with Block Industries and Channel Master. She was co-owner and operator of Byrd Auto Sales along side her husband, Charles. Mrs. Byrd always was willing to lend a helping hand to anyone that was in need and she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchild.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Charles Edward Byrd; children, Rhonda Jackson and husband, Craig, and Tonya Barnes; grandchildren, Jessica Jackson, Chastity Jackson, Tyler Langdon, Garrett Jackson and wife, Avery, Hank Barnes, Jr. and Jaelyn; great-grandson, Eli Langdon; sisters and brother, Doris Jean Parker, Jerry Tart, Betty Lou Byrd and husband, Donald, Linda McLamb and husband, Tommy, and Judy Barefoot; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at other times at the home.
