Benson, NC: Mrs. Dorothy Wood Allen, age 83 of Morgan Road passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, NC surrounded by her loving family. The family will receive friends from 12:45PM to 1:45PM on Monday, June 1, 2026 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson. Funeral Services will be 2:00PM Monday, June 1, 2026 in the Rose & Graham Funeral Home Chapel in Benson. Revs. Randy Beasley and Darren Briscoe will officiate. Burial will follow in Banner Chapel Advent Christian Church Cemetery in Benson.

Mrs. Allen was born June 29, 1942 in Johnston County to the late John O. and Hettie “Turk” McLamb Wood. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Melvin “Teeny” Wood, Millard Wood, and Joe Bill Wood. Mrs. Allen enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and canning. She loved all of her family and friends and never met a stranger. Mrs. Allen was a member of Unity Advent Christian Church in Four Oaks.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, William Clifton “W.C.” Allen; children, Darlene Coats and husband, Tim, Teresa Dainels and husband, Willie, Woody Allen and wife, Subrina; grandchildren, Dana Baker and husband, Brad, Jarrett Daniels, and Weston Allen; great-grandchildren, Brayden and Sawyer Baker, and Jaxton Daniels; sisters and brother, Helen Hockaday, Goldie Byrd, and Stacy Wood; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at other times at the home of Darlene and Tim Coats.
