Doris Gregory Lamm Sills

Dunn, NC: Mrs. Doris Jean Gregory Johnson Lamm Sills, age 88, of Dunn, NC previously of Angier, NC passed away on November 3, 2025, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Mrs. Sills was born on April 9, 1937 in Harnett County on a tobacco farm to the late Hubert Columbus and Dorothy Matthews Gregory. She was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Ray Johnson, brothers; Buddy Gregory, Cecil Gregory and Donnie Gregory, sister Hazel Matthews, sister-in-law Barbara Gregory and brother-in-law Billy McLamb.

Mrs. Sills retired from Miles Laboratories in Clayton, NC. She was co-owner of Russell Lamm Construction Company until 2002. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Angier, NC.

Doris was a strong, feisty little lady who lived life her way. We are grateful for the time we had before the illness, for the adventures, the laughter, and the quiet moments. She was a proud mother, a doting grandmother, great-grandmother that was not able to know those precious girls and a friend to many. Before her battle with Alzheimer’s, she enjoyed her “slice of heaven” at the coast, dancing, gardening, reading, shopping and sightseeing. She enjoyed cooking and hosting family get togethers.

Surviving is her son Greogry Johnson and wife, Kimberly, of Rockwell, NC; grandson, William Gregory Johnson and wife, Lyndsay, of Faith, NC; great granddaughters Miller Ann and Merritt Lynn Johnson also of Faith, NC; sister Karen McLamb of Murfreesboro, TN, brother-in-law Marshall Matthews of Erwin, NC and sister-in-law Sophia Gregory of Buies Creek, NC; many nieces and nephews.

As per her wishes, there will be no funeral service. Family will gather at the NC Coast at a later date for a memorial service. Memorials may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, 5171 Glenwood Ave., Suite 101, Raleigh, NC 27612.
