Donald A. McLamb

McGee’s Crossroads, NC:  Mr. Donald A. McLamb, age 84, of Zack’s Mill Road peacefully passed from this physical realm into the spiritual last Friday, February 18, 2022 at the SECU Hospice House in Smithfield, was lifted up by God’s unfailing grace and mercy, the support of his adoring family, and a plethora of prayers and kind deeds from numerous relatives, friends and caregivers. Funeral Services will be 11:00AM Friday, February 25, 2022 at the Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel in Benson. Officiating will be Pastor Clarry Gathers.  Entombment will be at Fellowship Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Angier.

Mr. McLamb was born December 1, 1937 in Johnston County to the late Aaron D. and Ethel Hayes McLamb of the Hannah's Creek Community.  He was also preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Edna Honeycutt McLamb; brothers, Cecil McLamb and Lynwood McLamb. Mr. McLamb was a 1956 graduate of Four Oaks School. He married Edna Marie Honeycutt and moved to her family’s farm in the McGee’s Crossroads community where he began farming, carpentry and raising a family. Mr. McLamb was a loyal father and husband, a steadfast Christian, and an overall earnest, integrous human. His hobbies included befriending song birds, engaging in word-play and tinkering around the farm. At age 40, fate smiled when he was hired among the earliest employees of SAS Institute in Cary, a position in which he found great fulfillment until his retirement in 2010. For the remainder of his days, Donald enjoyed a leisurely life on his own terms.

Surviving are his beloved children: Don Jr., Pam, Tim and Patti; three precious grandchildren, Soren Creed, Ethan and Aaron Edwards; a dear sister, Shelby Jean McLamb Royal; and dozens of cherished in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends 9:45AM-10:45AM, Friday, February 25, 2022 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the SECU Hospice House, P. O. Box 1376 Smithfield, NC 27577.

The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers.

Donald was one of my closest buddies during our days at dear old Four Oaks High. Our favorite class was Study Hall every day about 2 PM. I think he did 2 years at NC State. He had his sights set on chemical engineering. I had mine on ee & went 1 whole semester to find out how dumb I was.
