Four Oaks:  Mr. Charlie P. “Toby” Batten, age 75, of 586 Rhodes Pond Road passed away Saturday at his residence. Funeral Service will be 11:00AM Tuesday July 26, 2011 at Pauline Baptist Church, Four Oaks.  The Revs Drs. Robert Cooke, Hoyt Lock and Sherrill Stevens will officiate.  Entombment will follow in the church cemetery.               Toby was born May 2, 1936 in Johnston County to the late Harvey Dallas & Velia Starling Batten.  Mr. Batten with his wife, sons and grandson was the owner and operator of Triple B Farms Incorporated.  He was a member of Pauline Baptist Church and served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany. Mr. Batten was also a retired member of the Strickland’s Crossroads Fire Department.  He was also preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Hayes and brothers, Alfred Batten, Willie Batten and Carnell Batten.              Surviving include Wife of 51 years, Faye Strickland Batten; Sons and Daughters-in-law, Charlie S. and Beverly Batten and Doug and Teresa Batten, all of Four Oaks; Grandchildren and Spouses, April B. and Kevin Smith, Sara B. and Travis Johnson, Brandon Batten and Fiancée Jessica Blake, Shannon B. & William Beasley and Charley Batten, all of Four Oaks; Great-Grandchildren, Anna Kate Smith, Kellen Batten Smith and Clayton Whitley Johnson; Sisters, Lorene B. Guy and Ercell B. Lee, both of Four Oaks; Brothers, Valton Batten and Joe Batten, both of Four Oaks; and Sisters-in-law, Virginia Batten and Christine Batten, both of Four Oaks.             Family will receive friends at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson from 6:00PM to 8:00PM Monday.             In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Pauline Baptist Church, c/o Janice Gregory, 2915 Lee’s Union Church Road, Four Oaks, NC 27524 or to the Strickland’s Crossroads Fire Department, c/o Matthew Rhodes, 150 Rhodes Farm Lane, Four Oaks, NC 27524.
