Newton Grove, NC: Mr. Charles Cecil Smith, age 65, passed away on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. The family will receive friends from 6:00PM-8:00PM, Thursday, March 26, 2026 at Rose & Graham Funeral Home in Benson, NC. Funeral Services will be held 2:00PM-Friday, March 27, 2026 at Blackman’s Grove PFWB Church 1362 Timothy Road, Dunn, NC 28334. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Revs. Ricky Lee and Greg Tart will officiate.
Mr. Smith was born on April 17, 1960 in Chattahoochee County, Georgia, to the late John Nathan Smith and Helen Louise Johnson Smith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, David Smith, and mother and father-in-law, Helen and Herbert Raynor. Mr. Smith was a retired lineman for over 40 years, with Stackhouse and Mastec INC. He was a member of Blackman’s Grove PFWB Church, where he served as a Deacon, and sang with the Blackman’s Grove Boys. Mr. Smith loved cooking for his family on Saturday mornings at White Lake, NC, and his annual collard cooking tradition on Thanksgiving Eve. He enjoyed working with his hands, from carpentry work to sewing with his granddaughters, or attending his grandson’s ball games, however his greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Wanda Kay Raynor Smith, children, Dawn S. Corbett and husband, Jason, Shane Smith and wife, Amanda, and Dane Smith and wife, Allison; grandchildren, Dawson Corbett, Kade Corbett, Addy Grace Smith, Callen Smith, and Ava Smith; sister, Florence Stewart and husband, Steve; sister-in-law, Renee Tart and husband, Doug, and brothers-in-law, Edward Raynor and wife, Sharon, and Jeff Raynor and wife, Judy; many nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to Amanda Herrington, PA-C, Dr. Russell Anderson, Dr. John French, and Dr. Allan Dizon for their loving care shown to Mr. Smith.
