Garner, NC: Mr. Charles Register Gregory, age 93, of NC Hwy 50 North passed away on Monday, April 6, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family. The family will receive friends from 10:00AM to 10:45AM on Thursday, April 9, 2026 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Willow Spring. Memorial Services will be held at 11:00AM Thursday, April 9, 2026 at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Willow Spring. Officiating will be Dr. Adam English and Rev. Anthony Clayborne. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Gregory was born on February 8, 1933 in Wake County, NC, to the late Alton and Mahalia Register Gregory. He was preceded in death also by his son-in-law, Stanton Massengill; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Hudson and Eva Austin; brothers-in-law, Billy Austin and Bobbie Austin (Agnes). Mr. Gregory was a devoted member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, Sunday School Superintendent, and many other capacities. He was employed by Florida Steel Corporation and retired after 35 years of service. After retirement, he took a position with RN Rouse out of Goldsboro to work five years but loved the job and he stayed 15 years before retiring for the second time.
Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Jacqueline Austin Gregory; daughters, Pam Massengill, Patricia G. Wommack and husband, John; son, Charles Austin Gregory and wife, Jan; seven grandchildren, Greg Massengill (Jessica), Jeff Wommack (Alison), Ashtan Pate (Britt), Anna Woody(Zach), Alex Hill (Thomas), Katherine Brown (Donnie), Sarah Adams (Tyler); twelve great-grandchildren, Levi, Grayson, Brooklyn, Lane, Ava, Bryson, Kinsley, Reece, Emma Kate, Charlotte, Jace, Fallyn, Baby Adams due in May; brothers, Jerry Gregory and wife, Hilda, Donald Gregory and wife, Sherre; sisters, Frances Jordan and Debbie Stewart; brother-in-law, Gilliam Austin and wife, Donna; sisters-in-law, Janice Austin and Betty Austin; and several nieces and nephews; special caregivers, Teresa Floyd and Elizabeth Locklear.
Flowers are welcomed; however, memorials may be made to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, 1241 Old Fairground Road, Willow Spring, NC 27592, St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, or to one’s favorite charity.
The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers and will also be receiving family and friends at the home.
