Coats, NC: Mrs. Cathy Glasgow Mercado, age 69, went to her heavenly home on Friday, July 10, 2026. A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 PM-Monday, July 13, 2026 at Grace Community Church in Angier.  Burial will follow at Coats Cemetery. Rev. Ricky Lee will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 2:00PM to 2:45PM on Monday, July 13, 2026 at Grace Community Church in Angier.

Cathy was born on May 2, 1957 in Richmond County to the late George “Skippy” and Florence Abbott Glasgow. She was preceded in death by her sister, Penny Dale Glasgow and her brothers, Jerry and Danny Glasgow. Cathy worked at Campbell University for 21 years where she retired as an Executive Administrative Assistant. Cathy loved to serve her community in several organizations that included the Coats Area Chamber of Commerce, Kiwanis of Coats, and Habitat for Humanity where she held every officer position and received the Golden Hammer Award. Cathy served in the To Make a Child Smile as well as a food ministry with her husband Juan Thomas “J.T.”. Cathy was active in every church she attended holding several positions. Cathy also received the 2013 Humanitarian of the Year Award. Cathy loved her Lord and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt.

Surviving includes her husband of 49 years, Juan Thomas “J.T.” Mercado; children, Amy M. Johnson, Bucky Mercado and wife, Barbara, Paul Mercado, and Clayton Mercado; grandchildren, Abby Mercado, Ella Johnson, and Avian White; a sister, Elaine Cockman and a brother, Joe Glasgow; brother-in-law, Al Miranda and several nieces and nephews who all loved her.
